Snowy, icy road conditions Saturday led to a pair of wrecks outside Ellensburg, resulting in several people being hospitalized.
Around 4:34 p.m. Saturday about 15 miles southeast of Ellensburg, a 2014 Chevy Malibu driven by Marita O. Gobright of Tukwila lost control and struck a guardrail before coming to rest in the median of Interstate 82. Gobright was taken to Kittitas Valley Hospital along with passenger John Balasag, 19. Another passenger, 17-year-old Aliah Moses was not injured. Alcohol was not believed to be involved and no citations were issued.
Later Saturday, a 2003 Honda Civic driven by Yohana T. Habtom, 22, of Seattle, lost control on Interstate 90 about 12 miles east of Ellensburg and left the roadway. A passenger, 21-year-old Feruz M. Tweolde of Seattle, was taken to a hospital. Habtom was not injured, but was cited for driving too fast for conditions. Both Habtom and Tweolde were wearing seatbelts. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor.
