The Sons of Norway will hold its annual A Taste of Scandinavia from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 11 at First Lutheran Church, corner of Highway 395 and Yelm Street in Kennewick.
There will be cooking demonstrations for rosettes and lefse (Norwegian flatbread), along with a bounty of traditional Nordic baked goods for sale like almond cake and krumkake.
A buffet cafe will be open from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. featuring Norwegian open-faced sandwiches, split pea soup and lutefisk, along with Swedish waffles with whipped cream and berries.
At noon, a team of Vikings will storm the event and entertain visitors with a sword fight. There also will be a number of craft demonstrations that include woodcarving, spinning, weaving and embroidery.
The kids will have fun in a play yard and can take part in a Viking duck race.
There is no admission fee, but there will be costs for the food.
