A fire broke out at about 1 p.m. Sept. 29 at a four-unit apartment building at 911 W. Ainsworth St., in Pasco. All residents of the complex escaped without injury, authorities said.
Residents Abraham and Claudia Rodriguez and their three children ages 9, 3 and 1, lived in one of the upstairs apartments of the building where the fire is believed to have started.
Abraham Rodriguez said he and his wife noticed smoke coming from a closet in their apartment and called 911.
Firefighters from Pasco, Kennewick and Franklin County No. 3 fought the blaze. The Rodriguez unit was a total loss with smoke and water damage effecting the other three units, said Battalion chief Dave Hare with the Pasco Fire Department.
