Wild Wines, a sustainable winery in Oregon’s Applegate Valley, will open the doors to its new tasting room with food and fanfare on Saturday, May 25, from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. The unique tasting room features straw bale construction, a hand carved wood bar and natural accents.
Wild Wines specializes in seasonally crafted flower and fruit wines. Eleven organic varietals, including Raspberry, Oregon Grape, Dandelion, and Ginger, will be on hand for free tastings. The wines have no added sulphites.
“People are often pleasantly surprised that our wines are dry and not sweet,” says Carla David, winemaker and Wild Wines owner.
“We ferment and age the wines for up to a year, bringing out their distinct flavors which are much more interesting and complex than people assume. It’s quite remarkable to see people experience their favorite fruits in this new way.”
Rise UP! Artisan Bread, also of the Applegate Valley will be selling slices of wood fired pizza for those hoping to make an afternoon of the event and Turner & Moore of the Turner Moore Band entertain attendees with country bluegrass melodies from 2pm – 4pm.
“We hope to offer the public an opportunity to experience something different – an educational and uplifting, diverse farm setting to relax and enjoy a glass of fine quality, unique wine that highlights the broad range of fruit and berries that Oregon is so well-suited to grow,” David says.
Wild Wines is located at 4550 Little Applegate Road, right outside of Ruch, and 20 minutes from downtown Jacksonville. Regular tasting room hours will continue through the season Friday through Sunday, 11 am – 5 pm, with special Opening Weekend hours of 11-5 running Saturday through Monday of Memorial Day weekend.
