closeA Grandview woman died early Saturday after her car was hit head-on by a vehicle going the wrong way on Interstate 82 in Benton County near the Yakima County line, the Washington State Patrol reported.
Angelica Barajas, 20, was eastbound on the interstate about 3 a.m. when her 2007 Chrysler 300 was hit head-on by a 2008 Chevrolet pickup driven by Edward E. Castilleja, 49, of Prosser, the patrol said.
Barajas was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in her car, Stephanie C. Vega, 11, of Grandview, and Castilleja were taken to Sunnyside Community Hospital, the patrol said.
The patrol said drugs or alcohol were believed to be a factor in the accident, which was under investigation.
