November in the Tri-Cities should have near normal to slightly warmer than normal temperatures, according to the National Weather Service.
That follows an October that was colder than normal. At Hanford five daily records for cool temperatures were set and two tied last month, according to the Hanford Meteorology Station.
For November in the Tri-Cities highs usually average 50.2 degrees and lows average 34.7.
Precipitation for the month is expected to be near the normal of 1.08 inches for the Tri-Cities.
At Hanford last month the seven daily temperature records were set or tied during a cold spell from Oct. 10-13. On Oct. 10, the low of 29 degrees beat the previous record of 33 set in 1959. The next day a low of 21 degrees dipped below the previous low record of 39 sent in 1960. On Oct. 12 the low of 29 degrees tied the low record set in 2002.
Other records were for daily highs that were the coolest on record. On Oct. 10, the high of 50 tied the coolest high temperature record set in 1962. On Nov. 11, the high of 50 was lower than the previous record of 52 degrees last recorded in 1968. The next day the high was 44, cooler than the previous record of 54 in 1966.
The record-breaking streak ended Oct. 13 when the temperature reached just 45 degrees, 12 degrees lower than the previous record of 57 set in 1969.
Temperatures for the month at Hanford averaged 50.2 degrees, which is 2.8 degrees below normal. Temperatures were below freezing on four days.
In the Tri-Cities, temperatures averaged 51.1 degrees, which was 2.2 degrees below normal. High temperatures averaged 61.5 degrees, which was 4.6 degrees below normal.
Low temperatures averaged 40.8 degrees, which was 0.2 degrees above normal.
The highest temperature in the Tri-Cities for the month was 70 degrees on Oct. 7 and the lowest was 28 degrees Oct. 11. There were two days with temperatures below freezing.
Precipitation in October totaled 1.16 inches in the Tri-Cities, which was 0.59 inches above normal.
It was a rainy month with measurable precipitation recorded on nine days.
At Hanford, precipitation measured 0.78 inches, which is 159 percent of normal. Total precipitation for 2009 has totaled 4.2 inches, which is 86 percent of normal.
The peak wind gust recorded in the Tri-Cities for the month was 41 mph on Oct. 23 and at Hanford was 46 mph on Oct. 4.
