Turkey Trot event to benefit Red Cross

The Benton-Franklin Chapter of the American Red Cross is planning its sixth annual Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving.

The event features a 1-mile fun run/walk and a 5K run at Kennewick's Columbia Park. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. near the stage with opening ceremonies at 8:20 a.m. and the race at 8:45 a.m.

Proceeds benefit the Benton-Franklin Chapter of the American Red Cross.

Festivities include a kids area with a bounce house, clown and goody bags. Free coffee, soda and hot chocolate will be given out.

Early bird registration is $15 per person ages 9 and up. After Nov. 19, registration is $20 per person. Early bird group rates are also available through Nov. 19. Official shirts are $6 prior to the event and $10 the day of. Children 8 and younger are free with an adult registration.

Volunteers are needed, and groups are encouraged to apply.
