Echo wins small-town 'Bloom' program award

Compiled by Herald staff

ECHO -- Echo has been named the winner of the America in Bloom program's award for cities under 4,000.

The small Umatilla County town is the home to 715 people.

In 2007, Echo was the only finalist from the U.S. in the under 20,000 population category for the International Awards for Liveable Communities (LivCom) and received a bronze certificate in the finals. And on April 17 the Northwest History and Heritage Extravaganza in Portland presented Echo the Oregon Heritage Excellence Award.
