Ex-Miss Tri-Cities wins Miss Texas talent round

By the Herald staff

A former Miss Tri-Cities is proving her talents in Texas.

Kristen Blair, Miss Tri-Cities 2005, won a talent round in the Miss Texas Scholarship Pageant on Tuesday. She's competing against 36 other contestants in the competition, which runs through Friday in Arlington, Texas.

A student at the University of North Texas, Blair, 22, is the reigning Miss North Texas. She won the talent category in the second preliminary round Tuesday.

She previously studied vocal performance and elementary education at Columbia Basin College, after graduating from Richland High School in 2004.

Growing up, she was a frequent musical theater performer in the Tri-Cities, appearing in more than 30 productions, including for the Richland Light Opera Company, Richland High School and the Academy of Children's Theatre.

She competed in the Miss Tri-Cities competition in 2004 and again in 2005. In the Miss Washington Scholarship Pageant that year, she placed in the top 10 and was a preliminary talent winner.
