One Grammy nomination is cool, but two makes life a whole lot sweeter.
James Otto, who grew up in the Tri-Cities, earned those two Grammy nominations and to say he's delighted would be an understatement.
Otto is up for Best Male Country Vocal Performance for his song "Just Got Started Lovin' You" and for Best Country Song for "In Color," which he co-wrote for Jamey Johnson's hit song.
Though Otto couldn't be reached for comment, his father Jerry, who lives in Richland, couldn't be prouder.
The Grammy news lit up his Christmas like nobody's business, Jerry said.
"He's been touring a lot lately so we haven't seen much of him," he said. "But we talk to him on the phone and he says he's walking on a cloud. It doesn't get much better than this."
Breaking into the music industry is a tough nut to crack these days, but with the release last year of Otto's debut album, Sunset Man, life has been pretty darn cool.
"Just Got Started Lovin' You," the hottest single off that album, flew all the way to No. 1 on the Billboard country charts earlier this year.
And to make life even sweeter for the 1991 Ki-Be grad, People magazine named him one of country music's top 10 best of 2008.
The 51st Annual Grammy Awards air at 8 p.m. Feb. 8 on CBS.
