5 after-school programs to share $2.48M grant

By the Herald staff

Five Mid-Columbia schools will receive a five-year, $2.48 million grant for after-school programs.

The 21st Century Community Learning Centers grant, given to Educational Service District 123 from the state Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction, will provide after-school programs to five schools: Columbia Middle School in Burbank, Park and Highlands middle schools in Kennewick, McFarland Junior High School in Othello and Housel Middle School in Prosser.

The grant seeks to address the educational needs of the most at-risk and academically struggling students.
