Tern Feed Fish
An adult tern feeds a fish to a fuzzy baby in early June on Crescent Island in the middle of the Columbia River near Wallula. Researchers are studying the birds’ feeding habits and will electronically scan the nesting area for implanted tags of consumed and excreted fish after the season. The study is giving researchers a better idea of the numbers and species of fish being eaten. (Bob Brawdy)
