This 2012 documentary is a fascinating detective tale in which writer/director Joe Medeiros explores the 1911 theft of the Mona Lisa from the Louvre. A nondescript Italian building painter took it. Medeiros wants to know why.
His journey takes him to Italy, where he meets the man's 84-year-old daughter. That leads him to the answers of his 30-year quest for the truth. The trip is a bit long, but Medeiros' sense of humor and storytelling skills make the documentary a nice pre-holiday distraction. This one misses very few pieces.
