Domhnall Gleeson is Tim. When turning 21, the males in his family obtain the ability to travel back in time. There are some restrictions to what they can do when back in time and those restrictions play an important part in the story.
Tim falls in love with Rachel McAdams' Mary. Their story involves time travel as does the relationship Tim has with his dad done by Bill Nighy (The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel).
About Time is the creation of Love Actually, Four Weddings and a Funeral, Bridget Jones's Diary's Richard Curtis who character creation skills tend to top his storytelling and writing ability. Time movies are tricky. About Time has time travel, head-scratching meltdowns down in spots but has enough spark, sweetness, chemistry and excellent acting chops to recommend. Barely.
