All is Lost is straight ahead simple. Robert Redford plays a man with no name who is somewhere at sea when his boat hits debris from the 2011 Japanese earthquake. The boat starts to sink. Water from the crash ruins the radio, so contacting the outside world is impossible.
Redford's solo effort is brilliantly made more so by writer/director J.C. Chandler's (Margin Call) script. There are just two lines in the whole movie. Yet Redford's performance is riveting and is all that makes this a must see.
