RICHLAND -- The documentary Chasing the Ghost Particle From the South Pole to the Edge of the Universe will be shown at 8 p.m. Aug. 29 at the LIGO Observatory, 127124 N. Route 10, Richland.
Buried deep in the heart of Antarctica's ice is the biggest and strangest detector in the world called IceCube. Scientists put IceCube there to detect neutrinos from distant sources, or simply put, any mysterious messages from the cosmos.
Following the film, the Tri-City Astronomy Club will have telescopes set up outside the observatory for visitors to use. Admission is free.
