A Chasing the Floods field trip with geologist Gary Kleinknecht, an expert on the Ice Age floods, is Aug. 16. The trip includes visits to the Coyote Canyon mammoth dig site in Kennewick and then to Wallula Gap.
The cost is $65 and includes transportation, beverages and lunch. The deadline to register is Aug. 11.
Then on Aug. 21, there will be a jet boat trip on the Columbia River through the Reach center to White Bluffs, followed by a bus trip to the Gingko Forest near Vantage for a walking tour.
The cost is $180 and includes lunch, beverages, transportation and tour guide geologist Bruce Bjorstad, who also is an expert on the Ice Age floods. The deadline to register is Aug. 15.
