Garratt Wilkin and his Parrotheads return to Clover Island on May 24 for a rip-snortin' good time singing songs Jimmy Buffett made famous.
And if that isn't enough fun for you, then on May 25, it will be Randy Linder and the Creedence Clearwater Revival Tribute Band heating up the Clover Island Inn in Kennewick.
Tri-City rock 'n' roll band Colorblind will open the Parrotheads show at 5 p.m. Another local band, Stompin' Ground, will open for Linder.
Both concerts will be held in the parking lot at the hotel, which sits along the Columbia River. Gates open at 4 p.m.
Admission to each event is $18 in advance or $22 at the gate. The hotel also offers an overnight package for $105 per couple that includes accommodations and tickets to the show. Tickets are available at the hotel or by calling 586-0541. Concerts are open only to the 21 and older crowd.
A Garratt Wilkin show usually evokes images of beaches, boats, bars and margaritas with little umbrellas.
Mark Blotz, general manager of the Clover Island hotel, said he keeps bringing the Parrotheads back to kick off the summer music series because the band is so popular with Tri-Citians. The series has been a staple in Kennewick since 2009.
Wilkin and his Parrotheads, based in California, have been making the rounds nationwide since 1999. His troupe of musicians can be anywhere from six musicians to as many as 13 and includes steel drums, a horn section, harmonica, pedal steel guitar and the smattering of other Caribbean instruments.
"Traveling with The Parrotheads is a great way to meet Jimmy Buffett fans and to make new Parrothead friends," Garratt has said in past interviews. "We get such a kick out of performing for fans that become just as much a part of the show as we are."
Linder and his classic rock bandmates might focus their music on Creedence Clearwater Revival, but they also play hits from Bad Company, Bob Seger, The Doors, ZZ Top, The Beatles, Bruce Springsteen, Rolling Stones, Santana, The Eagles and George Thorogood.
Clover Island also has musical Wednesdays starting in June and continuing through August. The family-friendly events feature burgers, hot dogs and brews from 6 to 9 p.m., and music provided by either The Shades or Colorblind.
