The Kidz Bop national touring show Dream Big, Sing Loud comes to the Tri-Cities on March 28 in the auditorium at Richland High School.
The show features five 12-year-olds who belt out tunes in this high-energy stage revue.
Townsquare Media, which owns several Tri-City radio stations, is sponsoring the musical.
"Townsquare started doing great Kidz Bop shows last year in other markets," said Al Holman of Townsquare. "So we thought it would be a great show for the Tri-Cities."
He adds that Kidz Bop is much different than a Disney touring show.
"With high-energy and audience participation, it will be a blast," Holman said.
Janis VanTine, the publicist for Kidz Bop, says the show features kid-friendly versions of today's biggest hits.
"Dream Big, Sing Loud show is the ultimate family concert experience that guarantees to get everyone singing and dancing along," VanTine told the Herald.
The five singing stars are Ashlynn Chong, Grant Knoche, Jayna Brown, Matt Martinez and Bredia Santoro.
Santoro, from Chicago, told the Herald in a telephone interview that she remembers humming at age 3, which led to singing, then dancing and beauty pageants before age 11.
"It's so much fun to do what I love," she said. "We sing all the top tunes and clean up the lyrics when necessary to make them appropriate for kids."
The kids have been touring with the show since October and even though they're having a blast singing and dancing on stage in a different city almost every night, the performers still have to tend to school work, Santoro said.
"School is still our No. 1 priority when we're on the road," she said.
The Kidz Bop concept took shape in 2001 by cofounders Cliff Chenfeld and Craig Balsam, who created the Razor & Tie series of kids performing current pop hits.
The albums are composed of kid-friendly songs from Billboard's Top 40 hit lists, VanTine said.
Showtime for the Richland show is 6 p.m. There will be a meet and greet session with the cast after the show.
Tickets to the show are from $16.50 to $23.50 with a family of four package available for $48. VIP tickets are $55. Tickets are available at ticketfly.com.
