The Harlem Globetrotters will once again horse around when they bring their awesome ball-handling exhibition to the Tri-Cities on Feb. 20 at the Toyota Center in Kennewick.
Showtime is 7 p.m. Tickets are from $22 to $45 for general seating, or $80 to $101 for special seating packages.
And for those diehard Globetrotter fans, you can purchase a $299 ticket to sit on the bench with the team. That ticket also includes a signed basketball and Globetrotter jersey. Tickets at the coliseum box office.
The Harlem Globetrotters have been entertaining the masses for about 88 years. Though its definitive history is a bit sketchy, it's believed the team started as the Chicago Globe Trotters in 1926, then became the New York Harlem Globetrotters in 1928 and finally settling on Harlem Globetrotters in 1929.
The Globetrotters have an international fan base that continues to build as new flamboyant basketball players are introduced as each generation passes.
Tay "Firefly" Fisher has been with the team for five years and hopes to stay for several more, he told the Herald during an early ambassador visit this week.
Globetrotters come in all sizes and shapes, and there are three women on the team. The smallest team member is 5-foot-2 and the tallest is 7-foot-4.
Fisher is a 5-foot-9 guard who lights up on a basketball court, which is how he got the nickname Firefly, he said.
"They thought I lit up as a soon as I got on the court," Fisher said. "So the team started calling me Firefly."
He also touts the Globetrotters as the first organization in sports and entertainment to allow fans to vote on the rules when it started the Fans Rule promotion last year.
"It's become very popular," he said. "There's different options that people can vote on at our web site."
This year's options include: make or miss rule; hot hand jersey rule; trick shot challenge rule; 6 on 5 rule; and, the two ball basketball rule. To find out the details of each challenge and to vote, go to http://www.harlemglobetrotters.com/rule.
