Pasco High School drama students will present an unconventional trip to Wonderland with the production of Alice on Nov. 22-23 in the Gregson Auditorium at the high school, 1108 N. 10th Ave.
Director Tiffany Buissink said the audience will see much of the original Lewis Carroll story with a few liberties taken in the storyline.
"Some larger pieces were cut out in an effort to keep the play as a one-act," Buissink said. "Almost all the big parts and story elements are there. I turned the play on its side by making Wonderland seem somewhat normal."
Alice is played by senior Victoria Ramirez with the White Rabbit played by another senior Na' Shon Hill. Other actors portraying the familiar Alice in Wonderland characters are senior Ana Sofia Gonzalez as the Queen of Hearts, junior Connie Ramirez as the Dormouse, senior Geoff White as the Mad Hatter, freshman Princess Kannah as the Caterpillar, and three juniors, Daphne Gallegos, Carson Roach and Olivia Elizondo will portray the Cheshire Cat.
Never miss a local story.
Other roles will be played by senior Payton Fleming, sophomore Bo Cooper, freshman Raul Gochez, sophomore Carlos Ramos and freshman Drew Huff.
Buissink said the play's costumes are more like street clothes today than the elaborate garb of the fairy tale.
"For example, the cards are wearing baseball jerseys instead of looking like real (playing) cards," the director said.
Curtain time is 7 p.m. Tickets cost $8 at the door. The show is recommended for all audiences.
