The LIGO Hanford Observatory will hold an astronomy event to watch the Perseid meteor shower, which will peak Aug. 13, starting at 9 p.m. Aug. 10 at the Richland observatory, 12724 N. Highway 10 in Richland.
The Tri-City Astronomy Club will have telescopes set up throughout the night for visitors to take glimpses of the meteor shower.
Fred Raab, who heads the observatory, will give a presentation titled The Sounds of the Future: Listening to the Birth Cries of Black Holes, starting at 8 p.m. in the observatory's auditorium.
There is no admission fee, and all ages are welcome. Viewing continues until about 1 a.m.
