Several southeastern Washington and Eastern Oregon musicians will join writers, publishers and book art artists at the Eastern Oregon Word Round-Up on Oct. 26-27 at Wildhorse Resort in Pendleton.
Cowboy poet and musician Lonnie Shurtleff will conduct a cowboy poetry workshop titled Getting It Down on Paper from 10 a.m. to noon Oct. 26.
The workshop will teach techniques to create entertaining and evocative cowboy poetry and songs, as well as provide a structured, goal-oriented setting.
Then from 1 to 3 p.m., Shurtleff will conduct a cowboy poetry and song session called The Legacy and Heritage of the West.
This workshop includes presentations by Bobbie Hunter, J.B. Barber, Barbara Nelson and Joe Sartin (Coyote Joe).
On Oct. 27, musicians Heidi Mueller and Bob Webb perform from 10 to 11 a.m. At 2 p.m., there will be a songwriting program conducted by musicians Dakota Brown and Luke Basile.
Also Oct. 27, Foster Ko-Na Kalama and Becky Dudney of the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs will conduct a workshop on storytelling with words and music from 11 a.m. to noon.
