This year's Tumbleweed Festival, which is Aug. 31-Sept. 2 at Howard Amon Park in Richland, will feature headlining acts Lindsay Street, Jim Page and Back Porch Swing.
Page, from Seattle, has performed with such notable musicians as Emmylou Harris and Bonnie Raitt. Critics have often described Page as a "lyrical genius," Tumbleweed organizers said.
Lindsay Street, a Bellingham band, have been playing gigs in the Northwest since 2004 and sing in two languages -- English and French. Their Celtic-honed music is a blend of cultures from around the world: Scandinavia, Quebec, the British Isles and France. Oldtime swing, folk, bluegrass and jazz-influenced music can also be heard in their music.
Olympia-based Back Porch Swing plays a mix of swing, traditional and original songs that provides great dance music, organizers said. The foursome is made up of Josie Solseng on violin, Neal Woodall on mandolin, Greg Starling on guitar and Riley McLaughlin on bass.
The Tumbleweed Youth Night is from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Aug. 31 at the park. Musical groups appearing include Silver Dollar Circus, Ghost Animals, Dear Doris, Aundria, Kristin Carpenter/Rachel Ross/Andrea Harpster and StaticBox. Admission is free.
Festival hours are from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sept. 1-2. Admission is free to daytime festivities. The evening concert featuring Page, Lindsay Street and Back Porch Swing starts at 7 p.m. Sept. 1. Admission is $10 for adults and $8 for students and seniors. Tickets are available at the gate.
There will be plenty of toe-tapping music each day of the festival on four stages scattered around Howard Amon Park. Musicians from all over the country will perform, including Willow and The Embers, Jenn Adams, Steve Bech & the Buckaroos, Brad Keeler Trio, Skweez the Weezle, Heidi Muller, Dan Maher, Humphrey/Hartman/Cameron, Sanger & Didele, Tom Lewis, Pamela Thomas Martin, Carl Allen and Micki Perry.
Most of the dancing events will be in the Richland Community Center next to the park. Dance troupes scheduled to perform include Mystic Mirage belly dancers, Sultana Dancers, Sanchall Banerjee and Ye Merrie Green Gypsies & Drummers.
