Hundreds of hot cars will converge on Richland this weekend for the annual Cool Desert Nights event.
The weekend's events start at noon June 22 with a show 'n' shine at the Vintners Village in Prosser. Then from 7 to 9 p.m., there will be a participant-only car cruise starting and ending at the Uptown Shopping Center in Richland.
The cars will make a loop from George Washington Way to Symons Street to Jadwin Avenue to Knight Street ending back at the Uptown. The evening wraps up with a street dance at Jack-son's Sport Bar, corner of George Washington Way and Lee Boulevard. Cost is $8 at the gate. Dance is open to the 21 and older crowd.
On June 23, festivities start with a pancake breakfast from 7 to 11 a.m. in the gazebo at Jefferson Park, across from the Uptown Shopping Center on George Washington Way. Cost for breakfast is $5.50.

There will be show 'n' shines from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the parking lot at the Uptown and at Jefferson Park. The slow drags start at noon on George Washington Way. Various music groups play throughout the day at the Uptown, and there will be plenty of activities for kids.
The street dance starts at 9 p.m. in the parking at Jack-son's Sports Bar. Cost is $8 at the gate. Dance is open to the 21 and older crowd only.
If you plan to attend both street dances, there is a weekend pass rate of $10 for both nights.
On June 24, festivities feature an autocross charity event from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. sponsored by the Sage and Sand Sports Car Club. The autocross will be held at the Tri-City Raceway, corner of Keene Road and Van Giesen Street in West Richland.
There is no spectator fee. For those who wish to participate, the entry fee is $10 for three runs around the track or $20 for 10 runs. It's open to all types of cars. For more information about the autocross go to www.ssscc.org.
