The Adventure Musical Theatre Touring Company, a division of Seattle's 5th Avenue Theatre, will visit Tri-City area schools next week to perform Klondike! The Great Alaskan Gold Rush.
The 50-minute show is an educational and historic adventure for students, as well as an introduction to the excitement of theater, said Porky Thomsen, a Tri-City actor and businessman.
The performances are scheduled for 9:45 and 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. April 16 in the auditorium at Chiawana High School, 8125 W. Argent Road, Pasco.
On April 17, performances are at 9:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. in the auditorium at Hanford High School, 450 Hanford Ave., Richland.
Never miss a local story.
The wrap-up performances will be at 9 and 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. April 19 in the auditorium at Connell High School, 1100 W. Clark St.
Admission is free to all performances, and anyone can attend.
"This is the third year (the touring company) has performed in the Tri-Cities," Thomsen said. During that time about 4,000 kids have been exposed to the arts and learned a bit of history while doing it, he added.
The first educational musical program brought to town was Lewis & Clark Story in 2010, followed by Rosie the Riveter last year.
Thomsen encourages all private schools and home-schoolers to attend, as well as all schools in Benton and Franklin counties.
