The Roots of Music event happens April 25 at the Hermiston Public Library, 235 E. Gladys Ave.
Lauren Pelon from Minnesota will introduce older students and adults to 25 unusual instruments starting at 7 p.m.
Pelon will trace the story of music and performs music from around the world on instruments such as the lute, guitar, lute-guitar, lyre, recorders, gemshorms, cornamuse, krummhorn, schreierpfeife and shawm.
And don't worry about how to pronounce some of the names of those instruments or the sound they make, as Pelon will give a thorough history lesson of each one.
Never miss a local story.
The music culture she will cover is from ancient Greece, medieval Europe, contemporary Africa and the Middle East.
There is no cost to attend. For more information, call Marie Baldo at 541-567-2882.
