Pasco High School's 10th Avenue Singers are coming up on a decade of springtime musicals that have entertained thousands of Tri-City music lovers.
This year's show, Time of Your Life, will be May 12-14 in the Gregson Auditorium at Pasco High.
The troupe's new music director, Robert Dennis, has some big shoes to fill as he takes over for Mel Haug, who retired from teaching and directing the 10th Avenue Singers last year.
Dennis said it has been great walking into a program with such a strong tradition of excellence.
"We are really turning up the expectations a notch, especially in terms of the amount of singing and dancing in the show and the kids are excited and ready to work," he said.
Time of Your Life is packed with favorite Broadway tunes from such hits as Wicked, Les Miserables, Hairspray and Rent. Dennis guarantees those attending the production will have "the time of their lives."
Specialized lighting and video effects will be an added bonus to this year's show, all put together by Dennis and his team of talented students.
"Those who have been to a 10th Avenue show in the past should expect to see lots of talented singers and dancers and great music," Dennis said. "They will notice a very fast pace, no narration, just wall-to-wall music and dance."
The 10th Avenue Singers are a select group of music students who attend Pasco High. The group was formed in 2002 and has consistently maintained 20 singers each year along with a rhythm section.
Curtain time is 7 p.m. May 12-14 with a 1 p.m. matinee May 14. Tickets cost $12 in advance for reserved seats, $15 at the door, or $8 general admission in advance, $10 at the door. Tickets are available at the Pasco High office or call 543-6770, ext. 3702.
