The annual Showcase Gala dance event is March 26 in Pasco.
Nearly 100 dancers are scheduled to perform a variety of dance styles -- ballroom, Latin, swing, country, line dance, jazz and zumba -- and anyone who loves to dance can join in.
"When it comes to ballroom dancing, very few people know a foxtrot from a cha-cha, or an East Coast swing from a West Coast swing," said Beth Trost, organizer of the gala. "A tango is a little easier to identify by the sharp definitive music, but with an untrained ear, it too can be hard to distinguish from a rumba or other Latin dance."
The Showcase Gala was created to help dance lovers perfect or learn a sassy dance routine, she said.
"Even a Latin samba has a distinct rhythm with a rolling beat that commands your feet to get into the character," Trost said. "Dancers come from all over the region to this showcase."
The gala is open to ages 16 and older and to all skill levels from beginners to advanced.
Showcase performances will be from 4 to 6:30 p.m. March 26 at the Eagles Lodge, 2829 W. Sylvester St., Pasco.
Dinner and dancing will follow from 6:30 to 11:30 p.m. Cost is $10 in advance or $15 at the door for the showcase only, or $35 in advance and $40 at the door for the dinner and dancing.
