The Foothills Brass ensemble will demonstrate its high-energy style March 8 at Faith Assembly auditorium in Pasco.
"Serious fun has been our motto for years," said band member Chris Morrison.
"We always put the music first and approach it with serious intent, whether it's Bach, a great Dixieland tune or a favorite movie theme.
"The fun part? Perhaps it's from decades of performing for schools where the students give instant feedback on whether we are engaging them or not."
The Canadian-based quintet has had a lot of turnover since it formed 30 years ago. Today the group is made up of Morrison and Jay Michalak on trumpets, Joanna Schulz on French horn, Catie Hickey on trombone and Bob Nicholson on tuba.
The musicians will play everything from jazz to opera.
"We'll be doing our BrassScapes program, which brings to life a wide range of musical landscapes," Morrison said. "We'll have Baroque music by Bach and Handel, a Latin set including tangos, and our tribute to opera, which is built around a parody of the usual opera plot."
Showtime is 7:30 p.m. Admission is $20 adults, $10 students or $55 for families or by season ticket to the Community Concerts of Tri-Cities.
Tickets available at www.communityconcertstc.org or at the door.
