Halloween is near and there are plenty of activities around the Mid-Columbia to celebrate.
Freak Fest Costume Ball, 8:30 p.m. Oct. 29-30, Jack Didley's comedy club, 109 W. Kennewick Ave., Kennewick, 585-5665. Festivities include comedy/hypnosis show with Don Barnhart, costume contest, and music by DJ Scrappy. Cover charge is $7 for comedy show and costume ball or $2 for the costume party. Open to 21-and-older only.
Ghoulish gravestones and a straw maze covered with body parts and knives are featured for Othello's Halloween haunts Oct. 29-30 at Othello rodeo grounds, 821 S. Reynolds Road. Nonscary tours are from 6-7 p.m. Scary haunts are from 7-10 p.m. Cost is $5 at the door.
All Seasons Landscape & Design's Halloween festivities include a haunted four-acre corn maze, a straw bale pyramid, bounce slide, animal zoo, a haunted trail and haunted house. There also is a pumpkin patch for visitors to pick out their own jack-o'-lantern.

General admission is $9 on Fridays and Saturdays with a $7 Sunday special. Entrance to the haunted sites is an additional $6. Hauntings are on Friday and Saturday nights. Hours are 4 p.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Ghosts, goblins and other things that go bump in the night will be taking over a Pasco park for the annual Haunted Forest. Last weekend of horror and fun is planned at Sacajawea Park from 7 to 11 p.m. Oct. 29-30.
Admission is $8 per person and organizers say, "The terror will last until midnight if there are enough bodies." The Haunted Forest is put on by the Pasco Jaycees, Kennewick Lions and Rad Con. Money raised will benefit the Edith Bishel Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired. Some money also will be donated to a charity selected by volunteers.
A special kids trick-or-treat trail with pictures, games, face painting, tattoos, candy, snacks and more is also planned in the park from 1 to 5 p.m. on Halloween. Cost is $2 per child.
The Pasco Jaycees have been organizing a special Halloween "haunt" for 30 years, with haunted houses in several locations before creating the haunted forest at Sacajawea Park six years ago.
Parking for the Haunted Forest is at Port of Pasco. A special bus will take people into the park. For more information, call 308-5433.
Halloween: Mardi Gras Style is from 8 to 10:30 p.m. at the Clarion Hotel in Richland. Cost is $25 and includes buffet and dessert. Live music will be by Junkyard Jane and DJ music by Lon Martin. Must be 21 or older to attend. Call 946-4121 for reservations.
A Trunk or Treat event is planned from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Virgie Robinson Elementary School, 125 S. Wehe St., off Lewis Street in Pasco. Children are welcome to drop by and trick or treat from car trunk to car trunk.
The Hermiston Public Library will hold its Autumn Harvest Party at 4 p.m. to celebrate the fall season, harvest time and a little Halloween. It will includes games and refreshments, and children are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes. For more information call 541-567-2882.
Historic Downtown Kennewick Merchants Association's annual trick or treating event is from 3 to 5 p.m. Oct. 30 at most downtown merchant establishments. Miss Tri-Cities Adrienne Bousquet will be on hand to pass out candy to children.
Halloween Party at White Buddha starts ast 9 p.m. Oct. 30. White Buddha is at 1360 N. Louisiana St., Kennewick. No cover. 21 and over only.
Mad Hatter's Gone Mad Haunted House and Red Queen's Party, 2:30-5:30 p.m. at Boys & Girls Club Music & Arts Center, 20 N. Benton Ave., Kennewick. Admission is free but donations are welcome. The haunted house is not suitable for younger children. Strollers are not allowed inside. The Red Queen's Party is a carnival style game room designed for kids age 9 and younger.
Rock concert and costume party starts at 8 p.m. Oct. 30 at The Red Room, 711 Vineyard Drive, Kennewick. Scheduled to appear are Goodnight Argent, Striking Back and Run From Cover. Cost is $5 in advance or $7 at the door. Tickets at The Red Room. All ages welcome.
A Centennial Masquerade Dance starts at 8 p.m. Oct. 30 at the Community Center, 211 E. Elm St., Connell. DJ music will be provided by R&J Entertainment. Refreshments will be served. Admission is $8 for singles, $12 for couples. Kids 12 and younger are free. Prizes awarded for best costumes.
Halloween at the Museum, a Franklin County Historical Society event, is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Franklin County Museum, 305 N. Fourth Ave., Pasco. Festivities include a spooky atmosphere throughout the 99-year-old museum, visits from famous and not-so-famous ghosts, an authentic tepee from the Wanapum Indian Reservation and treats for the tricksters.
Rocky Horror Picture Show will have two showings at 7:30 p.m. and midnight at the Princess Theatre in Prosser. Admission is $20 and includes a props bag with rice, newspaper, toast and script. Doors open at 7 p.m. Costumes encouraged. The movie is rated R. There also will be a social hour following the film at 10:30 p.m. for those 21 and older.
Academy of Children's Theatre will hold a spooky night of treats and tales for kids of any age starting at 6:30 p.m. at the ACT studio, 213 Wellsian Way, Richland. Cost is $10 at the door.
Trunk or Treat Family Night, will be from 6-8 p.m. Oct. 31 at The Garden, 7425 W. Clearwater Ave., Kennewick. Cars will be decked out in costume with their trunks packed with goodies for trick-or-treaters. Free and all ages are welcome. Call 735-1650 for more information.
Trick or Treat for Canned Goods, sponsored by the Young Professionals of Tri-Cities, will go house to house from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Oct. 31 in various neighborhoods around the Tri-Cities. A free Trunk or Treat event will be held from 6-8 p.m. at Columbia Foursquare Church, 700 Comstock St., Richland. Church members will decorate their cars in different themes and hand out treats to visitors. For more information, call 946-6804.
Trick My Trunk is from 6 to 7 p.m. Oct. 31 at Faith Assembly, 1800 N. Road 72 in Pasco. Kids can load up candy bags with all sorts of goodies as well as play games. Admission is free.
Horror at the Big Top starts at dusk at 5600 Maui Court in West Richland. There is no cost but visitors are asked to bring a canned food donation to Humane Society and Pet Over Population Protection.
