The Feb. 22 Vienna Boys Choir performance, a Community Concert of the Tri-Cities event, might be sold out but there's still a chance to hear this renowned group sing the following night, thanks to Tri-City area Kiwanis clubs.
"The Kiwanis clubs stepped up to the plate to sponsor this second concert because the first one sold out so fast," said Loren Schmid of Community Concerts of Tri-Cities. "And we're very grateful they did this because it means more people will be able to hear this wonderful choir."
The choir performs the second concert at 7 p.m. Feb. 23 in the auditorium at Faith Assembly church, at Road 72 and Court Street in Pasco. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for students. For advance tickets, call Donna Glass at 375-6082.
The Vienna Boys Choir is one of the oldest boys choirs in the world dating back 500 years.
The choir averages about 25 singers each year and has grown to include poetry, dance, theater and visual arts along with its vocal performances, which includes everything from Bach to contemporary music.
Five local Kiwanis clubs decided to sponsor a second concert because of its mission to serve children of the world one child at a time, Glass said.
