Multimedia from 46 artists in Eastern Washington will be on display starting this month in Moses Lake.
The Museum & Art Center in Moses Lake will open its 2010 MAC Juried Exhibition at 6 p.m. Jan. 8. The exhibition is free and runs through Feb. 5.
"It's a multimedia show, so there's everything from oil painting to photography to sculpture," said MAC Manager Freya K. Hart. "There's a very wide variety of artistic media."
Three artists from the Tri-Cities will have their work displayed. Jerry Johnson of Kennewick will show his project, Nest Egg, which is of a wooden egg in a nest. Ralph LeCompte of Kennewick entered an acrylic painting entitled Cannonball Queen. And Barbara Sullivan of Pasco will show a western oil painting of horses called Partners.
"I do a lot of western-type things because that's kind of my background," said Sullivan, 70, who began painting seven years ago after she retired. "I grew up on a ranch in Ellensburg and my Dad had horses. It's just something that I enjoy doing."
Cynthia Dano, owner of Imbibe Wine & Art Gallery in Moses Lake, was the juror for the event.
"She did the selection process for this year and will be awarding our cash awards," Hart said.
So far, the museum has raised $200 to be given to the winning artists. Donations for the event can still be made. Please call 509-766-9395.
MAC is at 228 W. Third Ave. in downtown Moses Lake. Hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the museum is open Tuesday to Saturday.
