Rob Dunning, owner of Dunning Irrigation Supply in Lowden, apparently was elected commissioner of the Port of Walla Walla.
Dunning, of Touchet, drew 5,403 votes, or 60 percent of those counted Tuesday night. His opponent, Clarence Anderson, president of Blue Mountain Credit Union in College Place, received 3,582 votes, or 40 percent.
Dunning will represent District 3, which includes College Place, Touchet, Lowden, Burbank, Eureka, Clyde and the west end of Walla Walla County.
He will replace retiring Commissioner Fred Bennett.
The nonpartisan position has a six-year term.
Dunning has said he wants ensure that economic development remains the port's top focus.
In Walla Walla County results will be updated Friday and certified on Nov. 24. About 30,092 ballots were mailed out, and 13,925 of those were returned by Monday.
