Going to the movies is an all-American pastime all ages can enjoy and experience. And Fairchild Cinemas, the only locally-owned and operated movie theater in the Tri-Cities, tries to make it an immersion experience for the audience.
Fairchild does it by offering digital sound, an affordable 3D experience, stadium seating, plush high-back rocking seats, arcade games and a wide assortment of concessions and refreshments — with free refills on all large sodas and popcorn.
“We take pride in the ownership of our theaters, and we take care of them, keep them clean and keep our customers happy,” said owner Jeffrey Fairchild, who has worked in movie theaters since he was just 14 years old, and then helped run one for 18 years.
The first cinema he opened was a small three-screen theater in Ephrata, and then he opened an eight-screen theater in Moses Lake. He then decided to expand to the Tri-Cities with a 12-screen cinema in Pasco — his largest so far.
The movie theater mogul recently announced that he’s going to build a movie theater at Lincoln Landing, a new development in south Richland.
The 43,000-square-foot theater will have 12 screens, 1,100 reclining leather seats with electronic controls and swinging concession tables, Fairchild said. It is expected to open by Thanksgiving. Moviegoers will be allowed to buy tickets and pick out their seats online.
