The manager of Baskin-Robbins on Gage Boulevard in Richland knows why customers keep coming back to the popular chain that has more than 2,800 locations in the U.S. and nearly 7,300 stores in more than 50 other countries.
“We try to keep a really positive, upbeat environment that hopefully will keep bringing the customers back,” Nicole Crites said. “Of course, they also return for our premium ice cream, as it’s not the kind you can buy in a grocery store.”
Crites knows a fair share when it comes to ice cream. She has been working for the company for more than 10 years and said she loves the happy environment and pleasant customers.
“We have a lot of regulars,” she said, “and I’ve had quite a few customers follow me when I transferred here.” She used to work at the Stevens Drive shop in Richland.
The company founders, Burt Baskin and Irv Robbins, were brothers-in-law, and both served during World War II. Since 1945, Baskin-Robbins has created more than 1,000 unique and delicious ice cream flavors.
What are the most popular? Vanilla, chocolate, mint chocolate chip, pralines ’n cream and chocolate chip.
