After home brewing for 10 years, Mike Hall and Bill Jaquish quit their jobs at the Hanford site to pursue their dream of starting a local brewery. Their vision for this brewery was to bring back the days where local beer lovers could stop by to talk about beer, sample the brews and fill their refillable bottles with draft beer. They knew that great beer could only be brewed by people with a passion for and a deep understanding of beer and the brewing process, and with that, Ice Harbor Brewery was born.

Dave and Darci Mitcham, husband-and-wife owners, have been in business for 40 years, and their children have worked in the restaurant as well. “This business is our life,” Darci Mitcham said.

2016 Best Pizza: Brick House Pizza

Who can resist cheesy, fresh out of the oven pizza? Tim Curet and his wife Saundra opened Brick House Pizza in West Richland 19 years ago. The couple decided on the name because the song ‘Brick House’ by the Commodores played at their wedding. They also wanted a name that would be close to the beginning of the alphabet so people could find it quickly in a phone book.

2016 Best Sandwich Shop: Graze

Graze may be a newcomer to the Tri-Cities, but they are not new to the food industry. Owners John and Rebecca Lastoskie started in the food industry as a catering business in September 2006 in Walla Walla, after moving from California. They mainly catered for weddings, local community events and wineries, but in 2010 the couple decided it was time to open up a sandwich shop.

2016 Best Steakhouse: Texas Roadhouse

Texas Roadhouse is well-known for its exceptional quality, casual atmosphere and friendly servers who will even entertain customers with a line dance or two. Their hand cut steaks and delicious fresh rolls served with cinnamon butter melt in your mouth for a really delicious dining experience. To top it off, customers are served peanuts by the bucketful and made-from-scratch sides.

2016 Best Winery/Wine Tasting Room: Tagaris Winery & Taverna Tagaris

Tagaris Winery, a family-owned estate winery, has a longstanding history in the area’s wine country, and an even longer history of winemaking. Winemaker Michael Taggares founded Tagaris Winery in 1987, but his family has been growing wine grapes in Greece since the 15th century. Tagaris Winery is the modern day result of three generations of grape growers in Washington’s Columbia Valley.

For thousands of people across the Mid-Columbia and beyond, summer isn’t complete until they watch the hydroplane racing action during Water Follies weekend. It allows for a more immersive movie experience.”

Beaver Bark Garden Center is a local treasure, having won Garden Center of the Year in 2010 and continuing their tradition of excellence. The local, family-owned gift and garden center provides customers with a visually stunning experience – with its spectacular hanging flower baskets, as well as comprehensive inventory of plants and garden products in over 10,000 square feet of store space. Renae Bobbett, co-owner and founder, works with her highly knowledgeable and talented team of nearly 40 people to continually improve the aesthetics of the store layout. Bobbett calls this a “labor of love.”

The family behind Griggs Department Store and Ace Hardware have very strong ties to the Tri-Cities. Griggs was first opened in 1938 by Mr. and Mrs. Charles G. Grigg in a small store in Pasco, where they sold furniture, appliances and general merchandise. After a few expansions, Griggs became the largest locally owned and independent retailer in the Northwest. In 1969, Griggs began their affiliation with Ace Hardware.
