Tacoma firm picked to design Port of Pasco's office

Pratik Joshi, Herald staff writer

BCRA Architects of Tacoma will help design the first waterfront office building at the Port of Pasco's Riverfront Business Park.

The building will serve as an anchor in the park, which will offer mixed-use space with waterfront amenities, said Randy Hayden, the port's director of planning and engineering.

The firm recently was selected for the job for its expertise in planning similar parks for private and public clients, Hayden said.

Presentations by two local firms, ALD Architects of Richland and CKJT Architects of Kennewick also impressed the port commissioners but BCRA's experience with waterfront planning gave the Tacoma company the edge for the project, he said.

The estimated cost of the building is $4 million, which includes about $200,000 for the architectural services. -- Pratik Joshi: 582-1541; pjoshi@tricityherald.com; Business Beat blog at www.tricityherald.com
