Theresa Alvillar-Speake, director of the office of Minority Economic Impact and Diversity at the U.S. Department of Energy, will be in Pasco next week.
Alvillar-Speake, the first Hispanic to head the office, was appointed by President George Bush in 2001 to provide guidance to the department on the impact of energy policies on programs for minorities, particularly small businesses.
She is the featured guest at a luncheon meeting Wednesday, May 21, sponsored by the Tri-Cities Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Program runs from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m at Holiday Inn Express, 4525 Convention Place, Pasco. Cost is 20 ($15 for members who register and $17 at the door.) Information: 542-0933.
