Walla Walla lefty continues to impress M's

By Eric Degerman, Herald staff writer

So far, so good.

It appears as though Eric O'Flaherty, 23, a graduate from Walla Walla High School, is next in line to take a more prominent spot in the Seattle Mariners' bullpen.

Ryan Divish, a reporter with our sister paper in Tacoma, wrote a profile of O'Flaherty for today's editions.

If all goes well, O'Flaherty will step into the role of George Sherrill, who was part of the package that Seattle GM Bill Bavasi sent to Baltimore for Erik Bedard.

There's speculation that Orioles rebuilding process will feature Sherrill as a closer. And if he does well, look for the Orioles to flip Sherrill for more young talent after the All-Star break.
