Twenty-two students from River's Edge High School in Richland joined Tuesday with state Department of Ecology staff members and Washington State University Tri-Cities students to clean up Hip Deep Creek near Richland's Columbia Playfields complex as part of an Earth Month program. The group removed debris from a portion the creek, which runs from the Yakima River to the Columbia River, and tested water samples for quality. Students from Richland's Carmichael Middle School will participate in the program on Wednesday.
