If you’ve heard the rumor about Heart of America Director Gerald Pollet, it’s true. He’s running for a seat in the Legislature.
He announced plans today to seek the House seat being vacated by Rep. Jim McIntire, a Seattle Democrat who is stepping down to run for state Treasurer.
Pollet is known, and often despised, in the Tri-Cities for being a vocal Hanford watchdog and critical of cleanup efforts. But he said today making sure the nuclear reservation is cleaned up is only one of his priorities.
“I’ve done a great deal of other work,” Pollet said Thursday afternoon. “Running for the Legislature is not about Hanford. It’s about protecting the environment, public education and open government.”
Another Democrat, Scott White, also is running and has raised more than $25,000 so far and other candidates may surface, too.
