Republican booster takes on Rep. Seaquist

Gig Harbor’s Marlyn Jensen, a state committeewoman for the Washington State Republican Party, has filed a candidate registration form to challenge state Rep. Larry Seaquist, D-Gig Harbor, this fall.

Seaquist is finishing out his first term after having been elected with 55 percent of the vote in the 26th District in 2006. He’s raised $23,000 for his re-election campaign so far in one of Washington's few true swing districts.

The Alliance for Separation of School and State, an organization that promotes home schooling and private schools, lists Jensen as a property manager and mother of four.

She and her husband have been regular campaign donors, mostly to Republican candidates and causes. Since the beginning of the 2000 election cycle they’ve contributed more than $41,000 to state and local campaigns in Washington. They also have contributed more than $22,000 to federal races since the beginning of the 1998 election cycle.

Among the long list of recipients of their donations is initiative promoter Tim Eyman’s compensation fund.
