Soda company: Belch if you love democracy

Everybody with a YouTube account and an agenda to push thinks they’ve got something funny you readers would enjoy seeing this election season. For the most part I’m resisting the urge to egg them on.

But on Monday I got a press release from Seattle-based Jones Soda about a new line of politically-themed beverages and, for whatever reason, I can’t resist.

They’ve created a line of soda products with the images of Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and John McCain emblazoned upon the front. There’s Obama’s “Yes We Can Cola,” Clinton’s “Capitol Hillary Cola” and McCain’s “Pure McCain Cola.”

I’m open to suggestions in the comments section below as to what they could have called a cola named for Ralph Nader or Libertarian Bob Barr.

In their press release the company said their selfless promotion provides an opportunity to “chug down change and belch up choice.”

Classy.

It also allows minors to “vote” for their favorite candidate. How do they do that? Easy — by buying soda online for $14.99 per six pack with their parents’ credit card.

Because there’s no better way to enjoy an expensive soda than straight out of the mail.

What’s more “There’s no limit to how many times you can vote, here at Jones you can buy your candidate’s way to victory!”

Now that is exciting. Like I said, it’s a selfless promotion, educational even.

BLOGGER’S NOTE: For what it’s worth, sales of Obama’s soda was far outpacing the sales of McCain’s soda and Clinton’s soda combined as of yesterday afternoon.

One question, though. Shouldn’t Clinton’s soda cost more since it’s been relegated to little more than a collector’s item now that she’s out of the race?

And one final thought. When you’re online buying up the coldest soda on the Internet be sure to check out Jones Soda’s classy line of “WhoopAss” tees.
