Clarkston’s Christopher Winter, a member of the Green Party, has enlisted to run against freshman state Rep. Joe Schmick, R-Colfax.
You can find out quite a bit about Winter’s ideas on his campaign website.
There you’ll find he supports agricultural hemp production and extending all marital rights to gay couples but opposes removing the four lower Snake River dams.
He’s got a detailed college tuition program that provides waivers for a broad array of undergraduate students. The plan appears to require beneficiaries to attend class or lose their waiver.
Winter also touts a “work and play benefits plan” that proposes a 30 hour work week, 30 paid vacation days (plus holidays) and a prohibition against offering part-time employment solely to avoid paying benefits.
“If Wal-Mart gets mad and leaves the state, so bit it,” Winter writes.
UPDATE: If you look close at his "work and play benefits plan" you'll note part-time workers also would get 30-days paid vacation, plus holidays, each year.
