Seattle real estate agent Leslie Bloss has set up a Republican campaign to run for the open House seat being vacated by retiring state Rep. Helen Sommers, D-Seattle.
Two Democrats — Reuven Carlyle and John Burbank — already are engaged in what could be a real hootenanny of a campaign.
The 36th District hasn’t elected a Republican to the Legislature since 1980. Republicans have fielded candidates in 24 of 33 legislative races since but managed to get at least one-third of the vote only seven times and none since 1990. No Republican has gotten even a quarter of the vote since 1994.
But Bloss is going to give it a shot. You can find her campaign website here.
“Is this a face you can trust — would you vote for this person?” she asked on her blog in late March, foreshadowing her run for office.
She also mentions that she’s started knocking on doors to introduce herself to voters while also handing out her business card to let them know she not only can represent them in Olympia but also handle all their real estate needs.
