Snoqualmie Democrat Phyllis Huster this morning announced her campaign against Sen. Cheryl Pflug, R-Maple Valley. Huster set up her campaign a month ago but hasn’t yet reported any activity.
A formal kickoff event is slated for April 20.
In her press release Huster said she’ll host town hall meetings beginning next month that will focus on education, transportation, health care and the economy. She says what comes of that “will drive Huster’s policy-making efforts in the Legislature.”
Huster goes on to say she supports a universal health care measure introduced this year.
Pflug was elected to the House in 1998 and was appointed to the Senate when Republican Dino Rossi stepped down to run for governor. Pflug was then elected to the seat in 2004.
She gained notoriety this year for her quip about colonizing Mars.
Pflug, a leading Senate Republican voice on health care issues, also seems to have become a designated elbow thrower of sorts for the caucus with increasingly frequent speeches during partisan floor debates.
