Kent City Councilwoman Elizabeth Albertson filed paperwork today to set up a campaign to replace Rep. Shay Schual-Berke, a Normandy Park Democrat who announced last week that she won’t seek a sixth term this fall.
Albertson, a Democrat, is a mother of five who was elected to the city council in 2005. You can read her bio here.
Schual-Berke’s announcement last week got lost in the mix a bit, with so many other members having announced similar plans and with session culminating.
In a press release issued today she called her time in the Legislature “incredibly rewarding” but “now I’m looking forward to traveling and spending time with my husband and family before pursuing other opportunities.”
UPDATE: I got a note from an official with the 33rd District Democrats indicating that their chairwoman, Tina Orwall Shamseldin, announced at a recent meeting that she'll also seek the seat.
