Entwine event Friday features over 70 wineries
WALLA WALLA -- Join the Walla Walla Community College Foundation, the Walla Walla Valley Wine Alliance and ArtWalla for Entwine 2009 on Friday to support Walla Walla arts, wine and education.
The event begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Marcus Whitman Hotel and Conference Center with a reception, silent auction and sampling of wine and hors d'oeuvres. At 7 p.m. there will be a dinner and live auction.
Entwine will feature more than 70 wineries. Seating is limited and reservations are on a first come, first served basis.

Harvest dinner planned Oct. 17 at Terra Blanca
BENTON CITY -- Enjoy a multicourse meal prepared by Leo's Blue Moon Catering at a Harvest Dinner Oct. 17 at Terra Blanca Winery and Estate Vineyard. Each course has been matched by winemaker and owner Keith Pilgrim to one of his wines.
The evening begins at 6:30 p.m. with appetizers followed by dinner at 7 p.m. The winery is at 34715 N. DeMoss Road, Benton City.
Cost is $125 per person.

Winemaker for a day
ZILLAH -- Discover what it's like to be a winemaker in a two-hour mini course at Two Mountain Winery in Zillah on Oct. 17. The first hour will be spent in the vineyard discussing what to look for in the grapes, soil and vines plus how to field test for sugar. The second hour will be in the winery learning how to crush and ferment the wine.
Cost is $30 per person and space is limited.

Kestrel dinner series
PROSSER -- Kestrel Vintners is offering a series of Simple Dinners once a month from 5 to 7 p.m. at the winery, 2890 Lee Road, Prosser. Cost is $15 per person and includes main and side dishes plus a glass of wine.
On the menu are: Barbecued bratwurst and hot German potato salad on Oct. 16; curry, rice, salad and Indian flatbread on Nov. 20; and homemade tamales, Mexican rice and salsa on Dec. 18.

Celebrate Washington Wine gala set Jan. 30
The ninth annual Celebrate Washington Wine gala dinner and auction will be held Jan. 30 to benefit the Washington State University Viticulture and Enology Program. The program provides scientific research to support the state's growing wine industry and educates the next generation of winemakers and grape growers.
Tickets are $250 each, or $2,500 to sponsor a table of 10. The event has sold out in past years, so early registration is recommended. Tickets are available at www.wineauction.wsu.edu.
The event is held at Chateau Ste. Michelle Winery in Woodinville.
Popular items on the block in past auctions have included an acrobatic flight over Puget Sound in a classic biplane, dinner for 10 in the Boeing suite at Seattle's historic Fairmont hotel hosted by the president of the Boeing Commercial Airplane Co., golf trips, international travel and exclusive dinners and wine tasting events.
CEO Collections, cases of Washington wines donated by business and community leaders, will be back for the 2010 auction. New this year will be the Women in Wine Collection, wines donated by women in the winemaking and grape growing business as well as by women who are business and community leaders.
