Sunnyside High brings 'Cinderella' to stage

SUNNYSIDE -- It'll be a Cinderella story for Sunnyside High School's first play of the season.

All the familiar characters will be part of the show -- the wicked stepmother, those nasty stepsisters, the fairy godmother, the prince and, of course, Cinderella herself.

Showtime is 7 p.m. Nov. 5-7 in the high school auditorium. There also will be a matinee at 1 p.m. Oct. 31.

Director Corey Murphy hopes to bring an adaptation of Cinderella to the stage filled with warmth as well as humor that will delight adults as well as children, especially when the prince slides that lovely glass slipper onto Cinderella's foot, he said.

Senior Crystal Rivera plays Cinderella with sophomore Giovanni Rodriguez as the prince.

The evil stepmother is portrayed by Jazmine Salmeron and senior Hailey Moore and junior Lainey Lou Rodriguez are the spoiled stepsisters.

Admission to the show is $6 for adults and $3 for students and senior citizens.

The Halloween matinee admission is $3 and $1 for kids 12 and younger. Tickets will be available at the door.
